Aliso Season Comes To A Close At Huntington Beach

By Mike Daniels 02/18/2022, 10:30pm PST

The Aliso Varsity Boys Soccer team saw their season come to an end in the CIF Quarterfinals on Friday night in a 4-1 loss at Huntington Beach High School.  In a game that was dominated through the first 25 minutes by Aliso, it was Huntington Beach that tallied the first goal.  Just seven minutes later, the Oilers converted a penalty kick to go up 2-0 and extended their lead to 3-0 at the 37th minute.

The Wolverines came out strong in the second half and the team's two leading scorers hooked up for a goal.  Senior Zach Daniels crossed a ball over to senior Sawyer Sachen and Sachen found the back of the net to get Aliso back into the game.

However, Aliso was unable to get any other shots on the Huntington Beach goalkeeper and the Oilers scored an insurance goal with 11 minutes left.

The Wolverines end their 2021-22 campaign with a 14-1-3 record and it marked the final high school game for the 16 seniors.

Sachen ended the season with 19 points on 9 goals and one assist.  Daniels finished second wth 18 points on 7 goals and 4 assists.

Feoktistov Breaks Deadlock; Aliso Advances To Quarterfinals

By Mike Daniels 02/15/2022, 10:00pm PST

It took 68 minutes, but Aliso's Varsity Boys Soccer team finally broke through as senior Misha Feoktistov scored to lead the Wolverines to a 2-0 victory on the road at San Marcos High Santa Barbara on Tuesday night.  Feoktistov gathered a ball that was deflected off a Royal player and with the visiting goalkeeper out of position, shot into an open net to give Aliso a 1-0 lead with just over 12 minutes remaining in the game.  It was Feoktistov's fifth goal of the season.

In a back and forth affair, Aliso couldn't quite get any shots on the San Marcos goalkeeper.  San Marcos struggled to get any attempts on Wolverine goalkeeper Steele Arlasky as the Aliso back line of Josh Fisher, Jackson Harris, Ryan Mann and Curtis LeQuang didn't allow any solid shots.

After Feoktistov's goal, San Marcos pressured Aliso over the next ten minutes.  However, senior Sawyer Sachen sealed the win, scoring his team leading eighth goal of the year on a breakaway after a counter attack.

Aliso advances to the CIF Division I Quarterfinals to face Huntington Beach High School this Friday at Huntington Beach.  Game time to be determined.
