Senior midfielder Kevin Lim scored a pair of goals as Aliso played down a man for most of the second half and the Wolverines squeaked out a tie, 2-2 on Friday night at El Toro High. The Chargers struck first in the match, scoring on a corner kick set piece at the 18-minute mark of the first half. Just one minute later, Lim scored the first of his goals on a pass from senior Carter Futami. Another set piece gave El Toro their second goal as they took a 2-1 halftime lead.
It didn't get any better in the beginning of the second half as the Wolverines went down a man after Duncan Carvalho received two quick yellow cards. Aliso grinded over the next 15 minutes until Lim struck again. He took a ball inside the six-yard box and lofted it over his head and finished with a shot past the Charger goalkeeper to tie the score.
In the Frosh-Soph game, the Wolverines came away with a 2-1 victory. Minutes into the game, the Aliso keeper Matt Daniels was tested punching one ball over the goal and making another save from a shot on the right side. At the 17-minute mark, Jason Starcks opened the scoring on an unassisted goal. After the halftime break, Aliso came out strong and Kyle Kakimoto scored on a header off a pass from Starcks.
The JV squad won 2-0 on goals by Grant Snyder and Talan Chauncey. Snyder's goal was assisted by Jake Robinson 14 minutes into the match. Jackson Geiger assisted on Chauncey's goal at the 9-minute mark of the second half.
The JV and Frosh-Soph teams continue play on Saturday morning in the Marina Tournament.
